ANAI FONTE
FINE ARTIST
Anai Fonte, born in Miami Beach, FL, is a Miami-based artist currently pursuing her BFA in Fine Arts at Florida International University. Her work centers around ceramics and fabric, drawing deeply from her upbringing in the vibrant city of Miami. Growing up with a Dominican mother and a Cuban father, Anai’s heritage and family history—particularly her father’s background as a fisherman—strongly influence her practice. She often explores South Florida’s local ecology, honoring the landscapes of Biscayne Bay that have been a part of her life for decades.
Anai’s art seeks to evoke the sensations of memory, using clay and textiles to capture moments of comfort, peace, and belonging. Raised in the Miami of the late 1980s and 90s, her work subtly channels the nostalgia of a city that still lingers in her mind, inviting viewers to connect with their feelings of home and solace. In addition to her artistic endeavors, Anai is a mother, entrepreneur, and business owner, continually blending her personal history with universal themes that resonate with others.
ANAI FONTE
Home isn’t a place; it’s a feeling—found in moments of comfort, peace, and belonging. I mold these moments in clay and weave them into fabric, creating spaces that echo with the warmth of memory and the softness of familiar light. My practice invites you to find your own sense of refuge, to see beauty and solace in both the expected and the unknown.
