ANAI FONTE

FINE ARTIST

Anai Fonte, born in Miami Beach, FL, is a Miami-based artist pursuing her BFA in Fine Arts at Florida International University. She concentrates on ceramics and fabric but is also a multidisciplinary artist. Her work is deeply influenced by her upbringing in Miami, drawing from her Dominican mother and Cuban father, particularly her father’s background as a fisherman. She often explores South Florida’s local ecology, honoring the landscapes of Biscayne Bay that have shaped her life.

Anai’s art evokes sensations of memory. She uses clay and textiles to capture moments of comfort, peace, and belonging. Raised in Miami in the late 1980s and 90s, her work subtly channels the nostalgia of a city that still lingers in her mind, inviting viewers to reflect on home and solace. In addition to her artistic practice, Anai is a mother, entrepreneur, and business owner, blending personal history with broader human experiences.

ANAI FONTE

Home isn’t a place; it’s a feeling—found in moments of comfort, peace, and belonging. I mold these moments in clay and weave them into fabric, creating spaces that echo with the warmth of memory and the softness of familiar light. My practice invites you to find your own sense of refuge, to see beauty and solace in both the expected and the unknown.
